Visit Lititz

If you’re looking for a getaway weekend for the holiday season, I think I’ve proven that the 1777 Americana Inn B&B is obviously the best choice in the Lancaster and Berks county areas, but if you need further proof, let’s talk Lititz. Voted one of America’s Best Small Towns, Lititz has something to offer everyone and it’s only a short 10 minute drive from the 1777 Americana Inn B&B. I encountered Lititz around the same time I found my affinity for downtown Lancaster, this quaint little town has so much to offer in only a 3-4 block radius that I became enthralled. There are antiques, jewelry, exotic meats, olive oils, kitchen gadgets, beautifully crafted wooden tables, boutiques with scarves galore and a chocolate factory…what more could a person want. Lititz has become one of my top choices for local recommendations especially now that the festive holiday season is in the air. Take a look below as we virtually stroll through some of my favorite spots in Lititz and hopefully help you plan your day away at the 1777 Americana Inn B&B!

Zest

Zest

Stop #1: Zest- “A Store for the Foodie in All of Us”
This gourmet kitchen is a must stop for both men and women as you can feast your eyes on some great kitchen appliances, gadgets, savory jams & jellies, spices, cookbooks, aprons, baking mixes, the list goes on and on, but this small business knows how to treat its customers right! Stop in and sample whatever they may be cooking up in their open-style kitchen which is often used after store house for monthly cooking classes. If you can make this store a stop, you won’t be disappointed!

Cherry Acres

Stop #2 : Cherry Acres
The moment you step into Cherry Acres you are instantly surrounded by the most beautifully crafted wooden furniture you’ll ever see. There are tables, chairs, cabinetry, wine racks, great slabs of potential for whatever furniture you may desire to make, this place is craftsmanship at its best. You’ll also be able to find vintage sinks, handmade soaps, locally blown glass, and an array of pottery to accompany the beauty of this furniture in the store. Definitely stop in this store and browse the creations of the owner who takes “reclaimed barn wood” to a whole new level!

Clemintines

Stop #3: Clementines
Right next store to Cherry Acres you’ll find the holy grail of clothing boutiques. Step into Clementines and you’re transported to high end fashion with a reasonable price. There is locally made jewelry, hundreds of scarves, beautifully woven jackets, and the highest quality women’s apparel you’ll find this side of Lancaster! With anything from causal to dressy, this is perfect place to stop if you are continuing your date night out or buying for a special occasion!

Stop #4: Olio Olive Oil
If you are a foodie and want to make it a theme of your day, Lititz can be very inspiring! After your trip to Zest, make your way up to Olio Olive Oil and step into a room filled with every infused and international olive oil you could imagine! Take turns trying their selection of oils and vinegars and create sampler packets with their unique 2oz bottles offered in almost every flavor! Also check out their variety of salts, seasonings, and dips that make great gifts or additions to the every night meal. You can place your order online, but I recommend stopping in at this unique store and experiencing olive oil like you never have before!

Stop #5: Wilbur Chocolate Factory
I can put this stop on our list for now, but unfortunately come 2016, the Lititz Wilbur Chocolate Factory will no longer be producing chocolate in Lititz. The company will keep its store and museum doors open for the public, but sadly enough that wonderful chocolate aroma that can be smelled throughout the town will disappear. This gives you only more reason to stop in at the factory before the New Year to taste test some of the best chocolate around (and yes, we know Hershey isn’t that far away). My favorite part of the shop right now is the authenticity of the candy, you can literally stroll to the back of the store and watch as women carve each piece of candy into ornate characters and shapes. Make sure you don’t leave without their infamous Wilbur Buds which make great gifts, melting chocolate, and nibbles for the holiday season!
